The European Union approved a water cleaning project for Bonaire and there are possibilities to create clean water basins enabling Bonaire also to supply clean drinking water to its neighboring countries.

Due to the establishment of Bonaire Marine Park 20 years ago, Bonaire was enabled to keep its natural beauty. This organization, one of the first in the Caribbean, takes care to protect and maintain de underwater treasures of Bonaire. Thanks to intensive governmental monitoring of the protected coastal waters and the indescribable beautiful coral reefs have become one of the most popular scuba and snorkel destinations in the world. Bonaire is located in the southern region of the Caribbean rim and has little rainfall. That explains why the surrounding waters are so clean with view up to 30 yards.

The Gobal Water Academy would engage professionals in water management to organize workshops and seminars to educate young people to become water experts. As soon as enough fund is available this form of education can be changed into fulltime programs.

Revenues from the Bonaire Water Awards are intended to finance the Global Water Academy. The founders also will apply for subsidies and other ways of support like sponsoring and branding.
