Bronze Wamès are worn by the village heads Tékhani Ifan. These bracelets were supposed to make them invulnerable in combat. Their massiveness characterizes wealth and social status of the holder. When a chef wears one of these bracelets it is taboo and strongly prohibited to have contact with women.


Bronze Wamès sont portés par les chefs Tékhani du village Ifan, ces bracelets étaient censés les rendre invulnérables lors des combats. Leur caractère massif dénote la richesse et le rang social de leur porteurs. Quand un chef portait un de ces bracelets le tabou prohibait fortement le contact avec les femmes.
