War Child
|
The adult population in many Liberian cities and outlying villages has been
decimated by the atrocities. This has created a whole generation of children who
have lost contact with parents, relatives and carers. For these child victims of war
the future is bleak. Not only do these children carry a huge burden of trauma, but
without skills or formal education they face an uncertain future. The scale of the
problem poses a huge challenge to NGO operations: from orphaned children and those
who have been maimed, raped or forced into combat, to those who have simply never
known a normal childhood.
